4 Felines Air Lifted by Animal Lovers to Couple in Kentucy who take FIV Positive Kitties to live out a normal life span... |

In the last two weeks our cat Pocono tested positive for FIV (Feline Aids highly contagious to other cats but not humans or other animals). The day after I received that news, our vet Virginia called me to let me know she had just taken in an FIV cat and could we help in finding him a home. I said YES I CAN. Larrissa who lives in Coweta County came to our wine event at The Wine Tasting and introduced herself to Debbie. She told Debbie about a couple in Louisville, Ky. that only take in FIV cats in their home. They care for the cats their entire life span. Sometimes the disease will cause an early death but, most will live out a normal life span. She also told Debbie that they have a pilot in Gwinnett County that will fly the cats to Ky. for FREE and that if we ever had an FIV cat to let her know.
Well, guess what. Debbie got to make that call to Larissa as we had 2 FIV cats needing a home ASAP.
I called Ron & Debbie the couple in Ky who said
yes to taking the two cats. Then I remembered Gail of Homeless Pets
having an FIV cat that she kept in one room of her house, I called
her and she said Mickey had died. She told me about Tilby a cat that
Dr. XXXX was keeping in a dog crate in his back yard with 4 Pits for
the last two years. I said I'll take it. I have a home for it. Dr.
XXXX told Gail he did not want to give up the cat as it was too wild
and no one could touch it, but he had another cat that just arrived
at the clinic and I could take that one. So I called Dr XXXX and said
I want both of those cats. Needless to say (I shamed him a little) until
he said I could have both cats. Then I called Ron & Debbie and
asked if they could take in 4 instead of 2. Ron immediately said YES.
They sure are wonderful people and a pleasure to talk to. I know I
should have asked them first, but there was no way I was going to not
take that cat at Dr XXXX house.. .
I picked all cats up on Sat and kept them in my office. They all four got along very well. Oh and by the way the "wild one" Tilby that no one could touch was the sweetest most loving cat you have ever seen. Everytime I would pet him he would start purring and rubbing up against me. He was starved for attention.
Today was the big day. I packed everyone up and we were on our way to Lawrenceville to the airport. I arrived early and Alan the pilot was already there. I gave him everyone's story and that Tilby was to receive extra TLC because he is extra special. So he said Tilby could ride up front with him in the co-pilots seat.
I just got off the telephone with Ron. Everyone arrived safely at their home. He said they were all roaming around the house checking our their new home. Tilby was in the family room with him watching T.V.
And this is why I do this.............................................................
