SPFF Mission and Vision
The mission of Senior Paws & Furry Friends is to create a safe, cage-free haven for abandoned or abused companion animals, especially senior animals. The ultimate goal is permanent placement in a loving environment for all these animals and in the case of elderly animals, a life long retirement with loving, responsible humans. Where appropriate we also facilitate trap/neuter/return for cats, please see www.alleycatallies.org for more information on this important topic.
History
Senior Paws & Furry Friends was founded in October 2007 by Libby Shields and Debbie Dillon with a volunteer base. Before founding the organization we worked in a variety of businesses, but spent much of our time as volunteers rescuing and caring for homeless and/or endangered animals. Seeing the overwhelming need in the animal rescue and support arena, the group eventually united their passion, knowledge and experience to work within this challenging environment.
We have formed an organization designed to increase the safe options for keeping animals off the street and in warm, loving environments. The operation is currently run from the group’s individual homes, including fostering and animal care and continues to operate out of the staff members’ homes with a growing foster care and volunteer support base.
In 2008 the group received 501(c)3 legal status and has placed many animals into loving homes - see our success stories! Ultimately, we envision a facility to provide housing and care in an organized and expanded environment, helping further the vision of this group whose dedicated work is helping to change the environment of homeless animals in Georgia.
